Solutions for common issues

App won't generate melodies

  1. Make sure you've granted HealthKit permissions to StepMuse
  2. Check that your device has recorded step data for today
  3. Try closing and reopening the app
  4. Restart your device if the issue persists

No step data showing

  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone
  2. Go to Sources tab and ensure StepMuse has permission
  3. Check that your iPhone is tracking steps (Settings > Privacy & Security > Health)
  4. Make sure you've taken some steps today

Audio not playing

  1. Check your device's volume and mute switch
  2. Ensure no other apps are using the audio system
  3. Try selecting a different instrument
  4. Restart the app if audio continues to not work

App crashes or freezes

  1. Force close the app and reopen it
  2. Restart your device
  3. Check for app updates in the App Store
  4. If the problem persists, contact support with details

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I grant HealthKit permissions?

When you first open StepMuse, you'll be prompted to grant HealthKit access. You can also manage permissions later by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Data Access & Devices > StepMuse.

Can I use StepMuse without an iPhone?

StepMuse is designed for iOS devices and requires HealthKit access to read step data. It's not available for Android devices at this time.

How often are melodies generated?

Melodies are generated based on your daily step count. Each day creates a unique melody that reflects your activity level. You can regenerate melodies manually if desired.

Is my health data secure?

Yes! All health data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. StepMuse only reads your step count data through HealthKit.

Can I export my melodies?

Yes! You can export your step melodies as high-quality audio files and save them to your device or share them with others.

What iOS version is required?

StepMuse requires iOS 16.0 or later to access HealthKit and use all features properly.
