1. Summary
- Local-first: Your gameplay statistics, progress, custom shapes, and settings are stored only on your device. We do not operate servers that collect or store your gameplay data.
- No account required: You can use the App without creating an account or providing your name, email, or other personal identifiers to us.
- Advertising: The App may show third-party ads (Google AdMob). Ad providers may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies; see Section 4.
- Nearby multiplayer: Multiplayer is done via local device-to-device connectivity (MultipeerConnectivity). Game data is shared only between nearby devices you choose to connect to; it is not sent to our servers or other third parties.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device (e.g., UserDefaults). We do not receive or store this data on our own systems.
2.1 Gameplay and Progress
Statistics: total and per-mode counts of games played, questions answered, correct and incorrect answers, accuracy percentages, current and best streaks, last-played date. Daily statistics for in-app charts (e.g., last 7 days). Mode-specific stats for Shape Game, Board Game, Combined Game, and Multiplayer. Area game statistics and multiplayer match history are stored under separate keys (e.g., AreaAware_Statistics, AreaAware_MultiplayerMatches).
2.2 Custom Shapes
If you create custom shapes, we store the shape definitions (e.g., coordinates) locally so they can be used in games and persist between sessions. Custom shapes are not sent to our servers.
2.3 Settings and Preferences
App settings (theme, calculation complexity, etc.) and flags for onboarding/tutorials.
2.4 Multiplayer Match History
If you use local or nearby multiplayer, the App may store a local history of matches (e.g., player names, scores, mode, duration) for display in the Stats tab. This history remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can clear multiplayer match history separately via the Stats tab (Reset Multiplayer); Reset All Data in Settings clears area-game statistics only, not multiplayer match history.
3. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not: collect your name, email, phone number, or other contact information for our own use; require you to create an account to use core features; operate analytics or tracking that sends your behavior or identity to our servers; or sell your personal information. Gameplay and progress data stays on your device unless you use features (such as nearby multiplayer) that share data locally with other devices you connect to.
4. Third-Party Services and Advertising
4.1 Google AdMob
The App may display interstitial advertisements provided by Google AdMob. When the App shows an ad, Google may collect or use data (such as device identifiers, ad interactions, or general device information) in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and advertising policies. We do not control what data Google collects.
4.2 Apple
The App is distributed through the App Store. Use of the App is also subject to Apple's Privacy Policy and the App Store Terms of Use. We do not receive from Apple any personal data that you do not choose to share with us (e.g., via support or feedback).
5. Nearby Multiplayer (Local and Device-to-Device)
The App may offer local and nearby multiplayer using Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework. Game state is exchanged only between devices that you connect to (e.g., same local network or Bluetooth). We do not receive, store, or process this multiplayer data on our servers. You are responsible for only connecting with people and devices you trust.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is suitable for general audiences and may be used by children (e.g., age 4+ as indicated in the App Store). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner that would require parental consent under applicable law. The data we describe is stored on the device and is not sent to us. Parents and guardians can clear or reset local data at any time using in-app options (e.g., "Reset All Data") or by deleting the App.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Data described in Section 2 remains on your device until you delete it or remove the App. You can use the App's settings to reset area-game statistics ("Reset All Data") and/or clear custom shapes. Multiplayer match history can be reset separately via the Stats tab ("Reset Multiplayer"). Uninstalling the App will remove all local data stored by the App on that device. We do not retain copies. Purchasing "Remove Ads" does not change what data we collect (we do not collect personal data); it only disables ad display. For data collected by third parties (e.g., Google AdMob), retention is governed by their respective privacy policies.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Access and correction: Your gameplay and progress data is stored locally. You can view it within the App and correct or reset it using in-app settings. Deletion: You can delete or reset local data using in-app options or by uninstalling the App. Advertising: You can limit ad tracking or reset advertising identifiers in your device settings. Do Not Sell: We do not sell personal information.
If you are in the EEA, UK, California, or other jurisdictions with similar laws, you may have additional rights (e.g., access, rectification, erasure, portability). Since we store data only on your device, most exercises are done by you (e.g., via in-app reset or device deletion). If you contact us, we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
9. Security
We do not transmit or store your gameplay or progress data on our servers. Local data on your device is protected by your device's security (e.g., passcode, biometrics, encryption). You are responsible for keeping your device secure.
10. International Use
The App is used locally on your device. If you use it from outside the United States, your data is stored on your device and may be processed by third-party services (e.g., Google, Apple) in accordance with their policies and applicable law.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy (including a new "Last updated" date) in the App or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance. If we make material changes that affect how we use or share your data, we will provide additional notice as required by applicable law.
