Using Genius Plus

How does Genius Plus analyze my music?

All analysis runs on your device. We compute BPM, key/chroma, timbre and energy locally and never upload your audio or library data.

What influences playlist/radio generation?

Weighted cosine similarity across chroma/key, tempo (BPM), spectral centroid, and energy. You can tune weights in Settings for a different feel.

Does analysis affect battery life?

Initial batch analysis uses more CPU; subsequent use is lightweight. Processing is cancellable and optimized for efficiency.

Can I customize analysis or blending?

Yes. Adjust chroma/key, BPM, and energy weights; enable PCA; and optionally quantize vectors to optimize storage.

Technical Questions

Does Genius Plus require an internet connection?

No. Genius Plus is completely offline. All analysis and metadata stay on your device.

What iOS version do I need?

iOS 13.0 or later is supported; UI is best on iOS 16+. Runs on iPhone and iPad.

How do I reset analysis data?

In Settings, clear cached analysis. This deletes local feature bundles and indices; nothing is stored remotely.

What are PCA and quantization?

Optional optimizations. PCA reduces vector dimensionality; quantization stores compact vectors (4–8 bits) with on‑demand dequantization at query time.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. All analysis and indices are on‑device. We collect no analytics and transmit nothing. Data Not Collected.

Can I transfer to a new device?

Local analysis caches live on the device. On a new device, re‑run analysis to regenerate features and indices.

What happens if I delete and reinstall the app?

All local caches (feature bundles and indices) are removed with the app. After reinstalling, import your library and re‑analyze as needed.

Do you collect analytics or usage data?

No. We do not collect analytics, usage data, or personal information. All processing is on‑device.
